World of Coins is my personal collection catalogue. I wanted the structure to retain who issued each coin, including dynasties and princely states that sit within a modern country.
My contribution
I curate the collection, define its organisation and correct specimen details. AI tools helped build the site and process images.
Country is only the first level
The catalogue groups coins by country, issuer and ruling authority. India, for example, includes historical issues as well as the Republic.
The map and flag grid open the same view. Search helps reach countries that are hard to select on the map.
Describe the piece I own
A Numista entry describes a coin type. My specimen may be a restrike, replica or have a different composition.
I added specimen notes so those differences are visible. An unknown material stays unknown rather than inheriting a figure that belongs to the original type.
Update the collection without rebuilding the layout
The site builds its catalogue from a Numista export. An image-processing step crops coin photographs and removes backgrounds.
Checks compare the country write-ups against the collection records, including material claims and fixed counts.
Still cataloguing
The catalogue is a working personal project. I continue adding images and specimen corrections as I catalogue the collection.
The code is public, with source credits for the catalogue data and photographs.
